New Business Development Coordinator

Banyan Global is a development consulting firm committed to improving livelihoods through market approaches to international development. The firm has offices in Washington DC and New York City and staff working in a number of developing countries. Banyan Global operates seamlessly within four practice areas: microfinance, financial sector development, enterprise development and the health sector.

Banyan Global is seeking a New Business Development Coordinator to be based in Washington DC. Applicants should have at least 1-2 years experience developing business opportunities with USAID, regional development banks, the World Bank Group and other donors. Applicants should be able to assist in coordinating Banyan Global's business development process, including screening and tracking business opportunities, liaising with partners, recruiting, coordinating proposal teams to prepare technical and cost proposals, managing the proposal calendar, editing and refining proposals, and representing Banyan Global at conferences and other events.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in new business development within the international development industry.
  • Strong editing, writing and communications skills with an eye for detail.
  • Proven organizational skills and a capacity to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with US Government budget and funding processes and contracting procedures; familiarity with other bilateral, multilateral and private donors preferred.
  • Familiarity with enterprise development, financial services and health sector is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher with at least 1-2 years relevant work experience.
  • Fluency in English is required. Other languages a plus.

Salary commensurate with background and experience.

Gender and Development Specialist

Banyan Global is a development consultancy committed to improving livelihoods through market approaches to international development. Banyan Global's practice areas include health sector, microfinance, enterprise, and financial sector development. The firm has offices in New York City and Washington, DC.

Banyan Global is seeking Gender and Development Specialists for long- and short-term positions, based both internationally and in its home office in Washington, DC. Banyan's approach to gender includes ensuring gender equity in program design and management as well as technical integration of gender into the firm's four core practice areas. Banyan is recruiting gender specialists as well as development professionals with technical experience in financial services, enterprise development, and health sector development with a strong focus on addressing gender issues in project design and implementation. Tasks may include:

  • Designing and conducting gender mainstreaming, training, capacity building and programming;
  • Developing gender policies or statements for projects, institutions and companies;
  • Conducting gender audits of project management and human resource issues;
  • Undertaking gender review and development of project workplans and strategic plans;
  • Designing and conducting research on a variety of gender-related issues; and
  • Integrating gender considerations into monitoring and evaluation systems.

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in gender and international development;
  • Expertise in addressing gender issues related to one or more of the following areas: education, legal rights, policy, economic development, finance, trade, conflict/post conflict, HIV/AIDS, health, and/or trafficking;
  • Experience with USAID;
  • Experience with gender assessment and gender mainstreaming approaches;
  • Substantial field experience, preferably two years or more working on gender issues in a developing country;
  • Experience designing and conducting training, with a focus on gender issues; and
  • Foreign language experience.
