Development Finance Specialist

Banyan Global is an international development consulting firm with offices in Washington, DC, New York and overseas. Banyan Global is seeking mid to senior level Development Finance Specialists for full time positions based in Washington DC, working on programming that increases access to financing for the private health sector in developing and transitional economies.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • Conduct country market assessments, examining the financing needs of MSME private health businesses and the level, interest and constraints of financial institutions in lending to the sector.
  • Design and implement interventions that build local capacity to lend to the health sector. Activities may include assistance in structuring a credit guarantee, technical assistance in market research, loan product development, and lending to the health sector.
  • Design and implement programming that improves market linkages and expands access to business development services for the private health sector.
  • Activities may include developing and delivering training in business and financial management and building the capacity of local organizations to offer training and other business support services.
  • Develop proposals and budgets for new country project interventions.
  • Monitor interventions and disseminate lessons learned.
  • Carry out day-to-day backstopping and support functions related to program activities.
  • Remotely manage teams of professionals based in developing and transitional countries.

Qualifications

Mid-level candidates should have 3-7 years of experience. Senior candidates will have more than 7 years of experience. Other experience should include:

  • Design and management of USAID and other donor funded project activities
  • MSME lending
  • Designing and conducting business/borrower training
  • Experience working with borrowers in business planning and financial analysis
  • Experience designing business support services.
  • Experience with USAID's Development Credit Authority program
  • Business development services
  • Market research management and implementation
  • Knowledge and interest in the health sector, including maternal and child health, family planning and HIV/AIDS.
  • Health sector lending experience a plus.

Requirements

Successful applicants will have the following:

  • MBA, MIA or equivalent
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.
  • Spanish, French, or Russian language a plus
  • Experience working in developing countries

International Enterprise Development Specialist for Health Practice

Banyan Global, a development consulting firm, is currently seeking an International Enterprise Development Specialist with interest and/or experience in the health sector for a full time position based in Washington, DC with travel to developing countries. This position will involve program management and technical implementation on several USAID funded projects that seek to develop the commercial health sector. The Enterprise Development Specialist will provide technical input to programs, which will include expanding access to finance, improving the delivery of business development services to private health providers, and developing and conducting training and training of trainers in business and financial management for private health providers. The Enterprise Development Specialist will oversee Banyan Global's role on the projects, manage local staff and consultants and work with the project administration team to develop budgets and workplans and be responsible for reporting.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a minimum of seven years of experience. Candidates should have experience in:

  • Enterprise development and financial management
  • Training curriculum development
  • Designing and conducting business skills training and experience in conducting training of trainers.
  • Experience working with borrowers in business planning and financial analysis
  • Experience working to expand access to finance
  • Program management
  • Knowledge and interest in the health sector.
