Examining Cross-Border Trade and Gender at the Kazungula Border in Botswana

USAID Southern Africa Trade Hub, through Banyan Global, conducted a gender assessment on informal cross border traders at two important border crossing areas: the Mwanza border in Malawi and the Kazungula border in Botswana. The assessment examines the constraints, challenges and opportunities experienced by women informal cross border traders in doing business and interacting with officials at border crossings.  From February 8-12, 2016, international and local gender experts conducted interviews and held focus groups with informal cross border traders, interviewed border agents from various government agencies,  an met with  a variety of economic actors and stakeholders on the Kazungula border in Botswana.
